In conversation with Ayça Donaghy – Lighting Industry Association CEO.

.

This is a conversation that I’ve been looking forward to for a couple years. I’ve found myself in the same space as Ayça Donaghy more often than seemed likely; not just the obvious LIA events, but random conferences and manufacturers’ shindigs as well. The ‘and what are you doing here’ was getting too boring and predictable so I had to suggest that we introduced ourselves formally . . . and here we are: lighters all, I’d like you to say hello to Ayça Donaghy, the positive force of nature behind a revitalised Lighting Industry Association.

.

.

With Ayça’s appointment ( and if you need to know, it’s ay-ch-a. I had to ask.) the Lighting Industry Association has certainly come out its traditional shell of being almost a closed shop on behalf of its members (that’s my interpretation – no one else’s. If you want to argue, take it up with me.) to becoming a major influence on lighting policy through its outreach work; a new training programme; it’s technical forums and ICEL conferences and a proactive photometric testing laboratory that is available to anyone, whether LIA members or not.

The LIA Vision statement says it all: Together we empower light and illuminate tomorrow. And we can’t argue with that.

. . . . so then, Ayça, what was going through your mind when you took this job on??
