At the time of writing the Thwaites Glacier in Antarctica is threatening to collapse. The anticipated rise in sea level is >3m. In Siberia, temperatures are 5deg. above average, resulting in ice and snow melt and creating instability in the permafrost – releasing methane ot the atmosphere. These events – and extreme weather events all around the world – would have been impossible without human-generated climate change. World governments are too slow to react – so that leave sit up to us to show them the way forward. John puts some background to the crisis – 250 years in the coming – and suggests ways that the lighting industry can help to mitigate the situation. We only have our futures to worry about.
