Thinking of starting a lighting design consultancy? What happens first; and what happens next? As Frodo so very nearly said: “I will make the leap; though I do not know the way.”
So who you going to call? Who’s the best person to ask? Maybe someone who’s done it before – and is now doing it again. Chris Fordham talks to Andrew Bissell about how’s it done.
It’s hard to believe that there’s anyone in the business who doesn’t know Andrew but, just in case you’ve only just landed on-planet, here’s a bit of background. Andrew set up the lighting design group at Buro Happold twenty-odd years ago; went on to head up Cundall Light4 for sixteen years, becoming Director of Lighting Design in 2011, and is now a Partner at Ridge and Partners . . . establishing a lighting design team.
Along the way he’s also given of his time to the Society of Light and Lighting and is just wrapping-up his year as President.
Oh – and he’s also a crackingly good lighting designer. . . . just in case you were wondering.
