Light Creators: Jason Bruges

Jason Bruges Studio simply does amazing and unique work on an international stage, it’s hard to put it any more succinctly than that.

If you love the blend of innovative art, architecture, and design, (I do) that can spark your curiosity by posing the simple question of, ‘How, in hell did they do that?’  This article gives you an insight into this effervescent world.

Jason Bruges Studio produces art and design projects that blend engineering nous with artistic flair, and although not purely based around light, uses light in many of their projects. Many of the processes and design elements are recognisable in what we do as Lighting Designers, and one of the many useful take homes for me from the interview, is the importance of taking the client on the journey with us; and that the ‘Ta-da’ reveal moment is really something best left for the Hollywood psycho courtroom drama, ‘ Yes, your honour: the culprit is in the court and standing right behind you !’.

Our eyes are made to see forms in light; light and shade reveal these forms; cubes, cones, spheres, cylinders or pyramids are the great primary forms which light reveals to advantage; the image of these is distinct and tangible within us without ambiguity’ ” — Le Corbusier.
