Targetti has announced a major step-up from it’s popular CCTLed downlights. The CCTLed range has been well known for many years, providing a range of downlight functionality that designers look for in order to satisfy the wide variety of project lighting needs.
.
Targetti’s CCTEvo takes that functionality to an entirely new level. The clue is in the product name – it’s a real EVOLUTION in product capability.
Where do we see those developments? Comparing the original CCTLed offerings with that of the CCTEvo a number of factors jump out immediately:
- The physical range is larger, with fixture sizes varying from 214mm down to 58mm across the range.
- The extent of the light output options echoes the physical dimensions, from a whopping 5348lm (fixture lumens) to the discreet, but still impressive, performance of the smallest of the Downlight series at 864lm (fixture lumens)
- The uptick in light performance is demonstrated in the swap of CRI options; while the CCTLed downlights offered CRI84 as standard, with CRI of .90 available to order, the new CCTEvo fixtures offer CRI90 as standard across the range – with CRI80+ now reduced to a special order requirement, and why would anyone want to do that.
- Colour temperature has also been rationalised across the CCTEvo range, with 3500K being added to the list as standard. All fixtures are now available in 2700 – 300 – 3500 – 4000K temperatures. And, inevitably, a tunable white option is available for the most popular sizes of downlight.
So what does the CCTEvo family look like:

There are five options within the CCTEvo family:
DOWNLIGHT – WALLWASHER – ARCHITECTURAL- EXTRACTABLE – GIMBAL
.
DOWNLIGHT
Available with or without an expressed bezel and a standard specular reflector for the three largest fixtures – the smaller of the fixtures have a matt white reflector to provide soft-edged beams.
Light performance in the five sizes of the DOWNLIGHT ranges from FL to VWFL, demonstrating the likely use of these fixtures for ambient illumination.
An intriguing addition to the DOWNLIGHT specification is a standard IP54 rating for each size of fixture, making it a ready-made option for exterior canopy lighting.
.
WALLWASHER
There are three sizes available for wallwashing, with a light output varying between 1156lm to 4049lm (fixture lumens), depending on colour temperature.
The standard bezel colour is white, as you’d expect. Special colours are available, to satisfy specific project requirements.
A trimless version is also available.
The WALLWASHER fixtures have been designed to provide light uniformity on the vertical plane with a spacing ratio of 1:3 (wall to fixture: fixture to floor). Spacing between fixtures is up to the specifying designer, though 1.5m is suggested for typical spatial arrangements.
.
ARCHITECTURAL
The CCTEvo family also includes a comprehensive range of adjustable fixtures. The ARCHITECTURAL fixtures are intended to correspond with the LABEL range of track-mounted projectors to provide continuity in performance across different installation situations.
A great help to the designer is the VCR (Virtual Centre Rotation) aiming system . The 40° vertical angling (30° on the smallest 58mm fixture and 355° horizontal adjustment makes for a very flexible fixture.
Interior trims are white or back as standard; special colours are available.
Depending on the physical size of fixture, light performance varies between NSP and MWFL, with light output varying accordingly.
There are two accessories available to control the beam; a filter to create an oval beam, designed to be used with the SP (spot) and FL (flood) optics, where the effect is more evident, and an anti-glare honeycomb baffle to reduce unwanted surface brilliance from the fixture.
.
EXTRACTABLE
While the ARCHITECTURAL range is intended to complement the LABEL projectors, it’s the EXTRACTABLE range that provide best adjustability as projectors, albeit in a semi-recessed housing. These fixtures are hinged so that they can be set completely within the housing to provide a vertical light beam, but can also be drawn down from the ceiling by up to 75° from the vertical, making for an extremely versatile display fixture. Again, the fixtures provide a horizontal adjustment of 355°.
The reflectors and lenses used provide a range varying from NSP through to WFL. The reflector option provides a soft-edge light beam, whereas the lens is intended for sharper focus.
Continuing the colour palette, the EXTRACTABLE fixtures are available as standard in black or white.
And even more accessories are available here beyond the oval filter. The larger EXTRACTABLE fixtures can also be fitted with a diffusing filter that softens the light beam and a cut-off tube – a snoot that reduces sideways light emission.
.
GIMBAL
The GIMBAL fixtures are described as ‘the simplest product in the range’. And there’s a reason for that. Aimed firmly at the highly competitive retail sector, these fixtures are intended as real workhorses in a hard-working environment.
The reflector system revers to the facetted versions seen in the original CCTLed ranges – though the same lensing system as seen in other CCTEvo products can also be fitted if preferred.
Light beams across the range, which consists of two fixture sizes, vary from NSP to MWFL.
GIMBAL fixtures are available in black or white.
.
LIGHTING CONTROL OPTIONS
Targetti is offering a wireless DALI control unit as standard. Using a Casambi and Bluetooth 4.0 platform, this unit creates a local DALI bus, enables fixtures to be controlled within a mesh network of up to 128 fixtures. It can also be connected to an existing DALI network.
.
The CCTEvo family is part of Targetti’s wider T21 Collection, designed for interior and exterior architecture.
