“If you assume that there is no hope, you guarantee that there will be no hope. If you assume that there are opportunities to change things, then there is a possibility that you can contribute to a better world.”

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is clear about one thing: the time for action is NOW.
What will that mean in practice?

UNEP at COP26, Glasgow

Shelley James and the Age of Light Innovations Group is hosting a special discussion to discuss the incentives for change.

Drivers for Change will be looking at what ACTION means, what we need to do and how we might achieve it. It will be a cross-sector debate that will look at the influences affecting our choices in design and specification, commissioning, on-going maintenance and the ultimate replacement of our lighting infrastructure.

There is a pressing need to take a fresh look at the value chain for lighting to see where and how lighting can make a positive contribution to human health and well-being, to environmental targets and to the financial bottom line. The solutions will need to come from our approach to design and technology; how we manage construction; and a fresh understanding of project budgeting and whole-life costs.

Gayathri Unnikrishnan:Lighting is integral to creating a healthy, happy and sustainable world for all. Each of us has the immense privilege to impact people’s lives with good lighting. However, that privilege comes with responsibility to provide equitable access to quality lighting so we can positively impact people and the planet.

People + Planet + Profit

The webinar is aimed at professionals from across the lighting value chain and will focus on workplace and large-scale developments in the built environment.

Our Speakers:

The round-table discussion will be chaired by John Bullock, publisher and editor of The Light Review.

What questions are we asking?

  • What are the current drivers for decision makers?
  • How would incentives need to change to improve quality and cut environmental impact?
  • What opportunities? arise from those incentives

.Mark Ridler: There is no circular product without a circular project. And a circular project will be beneficial for human health and well-being in its widest sense.’
